Canceled – Perception Training Camp Certification 2009
Change the Way YOU See The World!
If you know which half —you are a genius.
Once you have learned Michael’s “HOW” of non-verbal communication, it’s all about the artistic level of timing and "permission." Perceptual Training Camp is different than anything you’ve ever been to, including Michael’s trainings. It’s the class for the NEXT LEVEL—the artistic level!
Being artistic (exceptional) means using your perception and thinking skills beyond the way many of us are trained to observe and understand now. In this peak performance training camp, you’ll learn critical perception and thinking skills that can help improve your results in several areas of life.
You will:
- Learn how to recognize behaviors and the beliefs behind those behaviors.
- Predict who is likely to dominate when two people are interacting.
- Know ahead of time what is likely to happen next in a group setting.
- Get instant feedback and coaching from Michael!
- Develop the refinements of timing and permission that are critical to taking your work in non-verbal communication to the Artist level.
- Bond and network closely with the other like minded attendees. (Just wait until you experience the accelerated learning a group like this produces.)
Understanding NON-VERBALS Is the Single Most Important Asset for YOUR Bottom Line. Imagine being even more proactive than you are now.
Prerequisite:
Either be a graduate of Michael Grinder’s Group Wizardry or Group Mastery or pass an online Q & A quiz on the Pentimento. Click here to view Study Guide and receive Link to Quiz
Most of us are familiar with Michael’s training format that includes animated demonstrations and presentation with learning done via role-play. This is different, though. It is not a Michael Grinder training. THIS IS A CAMP.
Once during the April module and again during the May module, you will have the option of showing the camp your 3-5 minute DVD footage. In preparation for showing of your DVD, you will study the footage and fill out an observation form.
The footage can be clips of:
* Yourself
* Close friends or family
* Colleagues, superiors or subordinates
* TV programs and movies
The video is shown three times.
- You show the footage and the camp watches in silence.
- You show the footage a second time. This time, you pause the tape at selected moments and comment on what your perception is. You can have your study team assist you.
- The footage is shown a third time. This time, Michael pauses the tape and comments on what his perception is.
The difference between what the participant sees and what Michael sees is the basis for each participant’s learning and growth.
The footage can be clips of:
- Yourself
- Close friends or family
- Colleagues, superiors or subordinates
- TV programs and movies
Michael meets with the camp for six hours every day. Because of this unique opportunity to refine and develop your perception, you are encouraged to free this week of obligations. Outside this structured time, the voluntary gathering of team members for filming, viewing, filling out observation forms, and professional dialogue is invaluable. You may want to make reservations to stay at the venue or nearby for the convenience of the optional evening gatherings.

- You, either alone or with others, fill out the worksheet for the footage.
- By April 25, you fill out a worksheet on something that is in the public domain: TV show, movie, You Tube, etc. and post the worksheet on a designated location at www.michaelgrinder.com. This is a password location only open to Perception Camp members. This worksheet is in addition to the two worksheets referenced in #2.

Once during the April module and again during the May module, you will have the option of showing the camp your video footage. In preparation for showing each of your videos, you will have the option of studying the footage in teams and jointly filling out an observation form. Teams can change during the week. The forms and part of the packet you will receive at the camp will be available online. You and your team meet outside the training room to study the footage. If you are lodging at the venue, you will have free use of a DVD player in your hotel room.
When showing footage, we use the following format:
Introduce your video. You tell the group what category of perception you will be focusing on (an individual, two people, or a group).
Format of the workshop
1. On the first day of each module, Michael directs the group. This includes Michael assigning members to role-play the 21 Pentimento Patterns, watch clips from movies (Michael provides his insights), and doing role-plays that are captured and played back for insights on the group dynamics.
2. On the second and third days participants share their footage. The footage is shown three times:
- You show the footage and the camp watches in silence.
- You show the footage a second time. This time, you pause the tape at selected moments and comment on what your perception is. You can have your team assist you.
- The footage is shown a third time. This time, Michael pauses the tape and comments on what his perception is.
Michael meets with the Camp for six hours a day. Because of the nature of this advanced learning, it is anticipated that most participants will want to meet after hours for continued learning and practice.
To gain maximum value from the training decide which Category of Perception interests you most. Michael views perception in three categories, each with a different purpose/outcome:
- An individual. Purpose: to learn what likely are the person’s values, attitudes, beliefs, and style.
- Two people interacting. Purpose: to learn who is likely to dominate. This is the origin of the Cats and Dogs metaphor.
- A group interacting. Purpose: to learn what is likely to happen next.
As you reflect on the categories, determine which of the preceding questions you would most like to be able to answer as a result of your increased perceptual ability. Bring footage that represents that category.
Preparation and IT Equipment
Michael will provide the camp with two LCD projectors, two screens, speakers for the audio portion of your footage, connecting cables, Mac computers and the packet with forms. You provide the footage. If you bring the footage on a DVD you can use one of the computers. If you have your footage in a format other than DVD you are responsible for knowing how to connect your equipment to the LCD projectors. We mentioned this because previous Camps have enjoyed bringing a camera and creating footage at night. Remember, the higher the footage quality, the more you will learn because you can clearly see the people and the interactions.
Try to attend with someone you know and would like to learn with during the week. Unlike his other trainings, Michael spends very little time blending the group together.
Increase your exercise for two weeks before you get to the camp because there will be a lot of sitting.
Bring your copy of "The Elusive Obvious" (The Science of Non-verbal Communication) and any manuals from “Group Wizardry” or “Group Mastery.” It is not required, but you may want to purchase and study either Michael’s Managing Groups – The Fast Track. Books will be available soon and may be pre-ordered by calling Gail at 360-387-3238.
